The owner of the establishment is an enigmatic woman who lives in the company of her distant daughter, a young pianist to whom she provides her protection, and a waitress whose naivety and purity contrast with the rest of them. Guests include an older woman in search of her lost youth, a scientist with symptoms of senility, and an ordinary man.
