Chofi "Malena Cervantes" and Alberto del Valle "David Silva" are about to marry, so the night before she has a hen-party while he's got his stag-party. That night her friends let her know that it takes more than modern appliances to make a happy husband. But she is a friend of Amelia "Maricruz Olivier" who's got a little stigma over her: she is divorced. Relax man. Focus on the age and place: Mexico, 1950's. Believe me, being a divorced woman then was such a stigma. After marriage and honeymoon, the young couple seems to live in a fairy tale - until Chofi invites her friend Amelia to have dinner with her and husband. Later Chofi tells her mother, Augusta "Maruja Grifell" about it, who advices her daughter: don't ever bring home a temptation. To her a divorced is a worthless woman. Since then, Chofi changes her mind and begins to think of Amelia as a worthless woman. But not Alberto, he is an open minded man who thinks a woman, single, married, widow or divorced, deserves all of his respects . Months later Amelia meets a man, Honorato "Carlos Riquelme" who proposes her. Of course she says yes. So when Alberto finds about it invites them to have dinner at home. That night Chofi pretends to be ill and won't come to the table, not even to say hello. Alberto becomes unhappy about his wife's behavior, and soon he files for divorce. This way, Chofi is about to become what Amelia has been. Now she will sacrifice herself in order to not to be what society regards as a stigma: a worthless, a divorced woman.
