Believing him to be drowned, Edna's father retires to the United States. Edna soon falls in love with Jack Dart, and their engagement is announced; then Potter reappears and reveals himself to Morris, demanding payment for his silence; and Morris, fearful of scandal, forbids Edna to marry Jack. Edna nevertheless elopes with Jack, and on returning from her midnight wedding she finds Potter dead in her father's library. She is horrified at the thought that she may have married Jack before Potter's death, but it is later proved that he died 10 minutes before the marriage took place. Written by AFI See less
