With this capital he is dated up to take Miriam to the opera, then supper, then taxicab home. The wily Payne gets carfare by politely tearing two tickets from a fat man's hand. He gets opera tickets by posing as a dramatic critic. He sells the tickets to a speculator for $30 and with this money finances the trip to another theatre and then supper in an expensive restaurant. It happens that the fat man, the dramatic critic and the speculator all are seated in the same café. A terrible row ensues and Emmet is about to be arrested when his room-mate turns up with money to square all accounts. Miriam, innocent of the trouble, has had such a delightful time she says "Yes" to Emmet's proposal. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
