Additional Resume Info (submitted by page owner via IMDb Resume)

  • * Brian Crosby

Brian is a composer and multi instrumentalist working primarily in music for film and TV.

Brian’s music career started at the age of 16 when he and Damien Rice started playing music together in school. This led on to them forming the band Juniper, and then later Bell X1, with whom Brian recorded four records and toured the world extensively between 1996 and 2008.

In 2006, Brian devised, curated and produced The Cake Sale, a collective that featured the who’s who of the Irish music scene including Glen Hansard, Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Lisa Hannigan, Damien Rice, Gemma Hayes, Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy), The Thrills and Bell X1 along with Nina Persson (The Cardigans), Josh Ritter and Nick Seymour (Crowded House). Having sold double platinum in Ireland, the record was released worldwide, and received further recognition when the song ‘Some Surprise’ was featured in the ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy. All profits from the Cake Sale go to the charity Oxfam.

Brian now focuses on film scoring and has gained recognition for producing haunting minimalist scores for a range of feature films, shorts and gallery installations. Recent film work includes Posthumous (co-scored with Dustin O’Halloran), Estranged, As If I Am Not There and Some Other Stories. Brian has also scored several national and international TV commercials for a wide range of brands including Google, Dodge, Samsung, Toyota, Volkswagen, Renault and Carlsberg. Brian has also worked on several gallery installations with visual artists Paddy Jolley and Michael John Whelan.

Brian is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and has been on the board of directors at the Irish Music Rights Organisation since 2009. He lives with his wife and two children in Berlin, Germany.
