    compliance with NYS DOH, which held 12,000 women and children from July
    4th, 1983, to Sept 4, 1983; the largest weekend Aug 1, 1983, saw 5000
    campers surround the Seneca Army Depot, the world's largest storage site
    of Cruise & Pershing missiles. The largest, longest continual protest
    (til then) in US history was networked internationally in an age of only
    telephones, snail mail, & mimeograph machines. Partnerships were made
    with US, European, & international peace and justice groups including for
    example, WILPF, Syracuse Cultural Workers, the Quaker Friends Society,
    The Seneca, Onondaga, & Mohawk Nations, the Christian Nuclear
    Disarmament, the European Nuclear Disarmament. National & international

    Sponsored by US Congressman Sam Stratton, ranking member of the Armed
    Services Committee. After growling at the West Point desk to check in for
    my physical, "Yah, I'd say there's been some mistake! Cuz don't you think
    we'd want her?", Sam drove us to D.C. to introduce a bill to the US
    House of Representatives to allow women to apply to the US Military
    Academies. West Point admitted its first 119 female cadets in 1976,
    after Congress authorized the admission of women to the federal service
    academies in 1975.

    Two years before Title IX passed, I attended a School Board meeting and
    threatened a class action lawsuit if girls sports were not offered. When
    asked how I would know about that type of lawsuit, I answered: "I watch
    Perry Mason with my grandmother." I was appointed as Student
    Representative to Superintendent's Girls Sports Task Force. We abolished
    6-girl netball & to play 5-man basketball.
