Additional Resume Info (submitted by page owner via IMDb Resume)

  • * Christopher, who works from his studios in London, Madrid and Paris, is becoming increasingly known for his work as a film composer. Part of his education was spent in Italy, where he studied with Ennio Morricone.

His rigorous musical training at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music in London allowed him to develop the skills for creating highly sophisticated scores and his practical experience in arranging and conducting orchestras and choirs and in music production, enables him to maintain a strong musical identity throughout the composition and recording to the mixing and dubbing processes.

Feature film scores include Kevin Spacey's Beyond The Sea starring Kate Bosworth, Bob Hoskins and Greta Scacci, the art-house film The Pianotuner Of Earthquakes, featuring Assumpta Serna and directed by the Quay Brothers and produced by Terry Gilliam, the Spanish romantic-comedy Semen Una Historia de Amor and the thriller Proyecto Dos. His most recent feature film La Verguenza was directed by Spanish writer-director David Planell.

Christopher also composes music for short films. The Brodsky Quartet featured on his score for the Spanish-French film Cuadrilatero, starring Mathieu Amalric, and the score won Best Original Score at four international film festivals.

His work in television includes documentaries, animation films and dramas for BBC, ITV and Channel 4 and he regularly collaborates with BAFTA-winning director Beryl Richards.

In Autumn 2007, he wrote the music for a very successful Madrid theatre production of Lope de Vega's El Perro Del Hortelano (The Dog In The Manger) directed by Olivier Award-winning director Laurence Boswell, associate director of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He has arranged for pop artists such as Adam F, Sheena Easton and Danni Minogue; has composed for numerous commercials including Mercedes,British Airways, Citroen and 02; and has provided the theme music for prestigious international news and current affairs programmes such as NOVA, the most important daily current affairs programme in the Netherlands.

His most recent concert work, the Frank Lloyd Wright Suite, inspired by four buildings, was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and released on CD in 2005. It has become a regular feature on classical radio stations in many countries including the USA and Australia. He has also had classical works performed at the Royal Albert Hall Proms.

His third CD release Moving Images is a compilation of his film and theatre scores, and will be distributed by Karonte/JMB records.

Christopher Slaski has achieved a lot for a composer only 32 years old. Aside from various awards and accolades, he has managed to develop a recognisable style, whilst remaining faithful to the dramatic needs of the films he scores. This style is typically delicate, with subtle melodies and orchestration often resulting in music that feels so fragile it could snap. But he is versatile enough to apply his musical gifts to a wildly varied slate of projects; the satirically anthemic strains of Citizen Verdict, the evocative guitar work of Angela's Decision, the enigma of Proyecto Dos. His work on Kevin Spacey's Beyond the Sea evokes Thomas Newman but is never derivative, maintaining a freshness that suggests Slaski is a name to watch in the world of film scoring.
