- * Jeremy Podeswa has written and directed three award winning feature films: FUGITIVE PIECES (opening night, Toronto International Film Festival); THE FIVE SENSES (Directors Fortnight, Cannes Film Festival) and ECLIPSE (Berlin and Sundance Festivals).
He has also directed for many of the most ground breaking (and award winning) cable television series and mini-series, including for HBO the Emmy Award winning mini-series The Pacific (TomHanks/ Playtone and Steven Spielberg/Dreamworks producers), The Newsroom, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, Rome, Six Feet Under, Carnivale, and John From Cincinatti; for Showtime, Homeland,Ray Donovan, The Borgias, The Tudors, Dexter, Weeds, The L Word, Queer as Folk, and The Chris Isaak Show; for STARZ Camelot; for AMC The Walking Dead, Rubicon; for F/X American Horror Story, Nip/Tuck and The Riches; and for TNT the mini-series Into the West (produced by Steven Spielberg/ Dreamworks).
He has twice been nominated for an Emmy Award (Best Director, Dramatic Series ) for Boardwalk Empire (Anastasia); and (Best Director, Movie or Mini-Series) for The Pacific (also nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award . He has also been nominated multiple times for the Genie (Canada's Oscars) and Gemini (Canada's Emmys), winning for Best Director, Dramatic Series for The Borgias.
Other broadcast network credits include: the drama pilot Empire State for ABC and the Mark Gordon Company; Commander in Chief (starring Geena Davis, for ABC); Book of Daniel (starring Aidan Quinn and Ellen Burstyn, for CBS); and Wonderfalls (for FOX). He has also directed the television movie After the Harvest (Lifetime) starring Sam Shepard, winner of the Directors Guild of Canada Award for Best Direction and nominated for nine Gemini Awards.
His three features in detail, are: FUGITIVE PIECES (Samuel Goldwyn Films), starring Stephen Dillane and Rosamund Pike. In addition to being selected for the Opening Night of the Toronto International Film Festival, the film was nominated for six Genie Awards and won Best Actor at the Rome Film Festival, and the Audience Prize at the Sydney Film Festival.
THE FIVE SENSES (Fine Line Distribution) was developed at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the prestigious Directors' Fortnight section. It stars Mary-Louise Parker, was nominated for nine Genie Awards winning for Best Director, and was the recipient of the award for Best Canadian Film at the Toronto International Film Festival.
ECLIPSE (Strand Releasing) premiered at the Toronto, Sundance and Berlin Festivals and was a selection of New Directors/New Films at the MOMA in New York.
