RESUME DETAILS
  • * BRUCE D. JOHNSON
Bruce Johnson has been a producer and creative executive in Hollywood for
over 25 years. From writing and producing to directing and executive
producing, Johnson has been involved with every aspect of filmmaking
including development, presales, budgeting, financing, pre-production,
production and post-production, in both live action and animation, on over
40 original movies. He has also supervised the marketing and distribution
of movies domestically and internationally including home entertainment,
    television and theatrical.

In 1994, Johnson founded PorchLight Entertainment and as CEO built the
company into a premier family entertainment company. Building on his
experience as a studio executive, he has supervised the development and
sales of numerous movies and television series to networks such as Disney
Channel, Nickelodeon, Lifetime, Showtime, NBC, Cartoon Network, PBS,
Discovery Channel, Pax (Ion), History Channel, BBC, CBC and others. The
first movie he produced for PorchLight was The Trial of Old Drum, an award
winning family movie starring Scott Bakula, Ron Pearlman and Randy Travis,
still in distribution with Lionsgate. Under his creative guidance and
leadership, thirty-five additional movies were produced at PorchLight. He
has produced or executive produced well over 1200 episodes of animation
including Jay Jay the Jet Plane (PBS), Dino Dan (Nickelodeon), and
Tutenstein (NBC/DiscoveryKids), for which he was honored with multiple Emmy
    Awards for Best Animated Series.

Johnson left PorchLight in 2011 and formed Foxfield Entertainment, LLC, an
independent production company based in Los Angeles and focused on
executive producing, financing and distributing independent movies and
    series. (www.foxfieldentertainment.com)
After completing graduate work at Northwestern University, Johnson got his
start in the entertainment industry as a junior executive at Films
Incorporated, a Chicago-based feature film distribution company. The
company distributed movies from Fox, Paramount, MGM, Universal and others
to nontheatrical markets such as colleges and libraries. The experience
gave Johnson a total immersion in American cinema and provided valuable
training in film production and distribution. He began his Hollywood
filmmaking career as a staff producer at Dave Bell Associates where he
produced over 75 documentaries and was honored with three Emmy Awards.
Johnson joined Hanna-Barbera Productions in the mid-1980s as a development
executive and went on to supervise over 1200 episodes of animation and
numerous specials. In 1988 he produced Jetsons: The Movie for Universal
Studios, directed by the legendary Joe Barbera and William Hanna. Johnson
also supervised Hanna-Barbera's involvement in The Flintstones Movie, also
for Universal. When Turner Entertainment purchased Hanna-Barbera in 1991,
he was named Executive Vice President and General Manager, where his
responsibilities included helping to establish the Cartoon Networks
    worldwide.

A native of Minneapolis, Johnson is a graduate of the University of
Minnesota. In addition, he holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, with studies
in film, English and education. He's married, has one child and is an avid
    weekend tennis player.
