RESUME DETAILS
  • * GABRIELLE BEAUMONT

Gabrielle Beaumont was born in England of theatrical parentage. Her Father,
Gabriel Toyne, a well known producer/actor and famous swordsman. Her
Mother, Diana Beaumont, a theatrical and British Film Star. Educated in
England and Europe, she started her career in the theatre at age six,
playing Michael in PETER PAN in her parents company. She toured with them,
performing in USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. After
completing her academic studies in England, she joined the Folkestone
Repertory Theatre as the juvenile lead. She went on to play in the
following major productions, including, in the West End Theatre: A TASTE OF
HONEY, ROOTS, BILLY LIAR, THE THREE SISTERS, THE CHERRY ORCHARD, BLITZ,
    etc.

After training at the BBC in all aspects of film and television, she
entered the film industry as an editor, and later worked as a First AD and
production manager. She produced her first motion Picture at the age of
18, and, from thereon, has worked in film, theatre and television.

Motion Picture Producer/Director credits include VELVET HOUSE, THE
JOHNSTOWN MONSTER, THE GODSEND, GONE ARE THE DAYES, THE CORVINI
INHERITANCE, HE'S MY GIRL. As a theatre director she has directed many
    English classics.

In addition to being Producer/Writer/Director of several British
documentaries. She had directed Drama in TV for the BBC and the independent
TV Networks for eight years, comprising of over 60 hours, both on videotape
and film. Productions included a number of Classic Serials, Mini-series,
and Movies for TV, Shakespeare and Children's Drama.

Ms. Beaumont was invited to Hollywood in January 1980 for the opening of
her film THE GODSEND. Her first American assignment followed shortly
afterwards. She and her husband and daughter settled there in December
    1981.

She proceeded to break new ground for women directors in Los Angeles and
was the first woman to direct such programs as HILL STREET BLUES, MIAMI
VICE, CAGNEY AND LACY, M*A*S*H, L.A.LAW, etc. Several features for
theatrical release followed. She has now directed more hours of film than
any other woman in the history of film or television

After 10 years of successful work in the USA tragedy hit the family. Her
only child, Amanda lost a five-year battle against cancer and died at the
age of 21. Gabrielle felt a need to leave L.A. and return to her roots in
    England.

A nostalgic return to the BBC, after 20 years, to direct a Screen One film,
ONE LAST CHANCE following a two hour special of PARADISE CLUB, this led to
an independent feature film in Ireland and a French co-production in Paris.

A surprise D.G.A. nomination by her peers, for best direction on L.A. LAW,
brought her back to Los Angeles in 1991. Assignments on STAR TREK, DOOGIE
HOWSER and L.A.LAW quickly followed. By this time Ms. Beaumont had turned
her hand to writing and having completed an original screenplay, now in
development, she was commissioned to adapt T.S.Eliot's MURDER IN THE
    CATHEDRAL for the screen.

In the spring of 1992 Anglia Films wooed her back to England to direct
Jilly Cooper's best seller RIDERS. A four-hour miniseries for HBO.

1993 was back to America to direct LAW & ORDER, and SEAQUEST for Universal.
1994 opened with a two-hour movie for NBC - CRADLE OF CONSPIRACY,
followed by a script commission by Gemini Films for a thriller, HIDDEN
VOICES and a TV movie for Disney in London.

1995 saw the completion of a TV Movie for CBS - THE OTHER WOMAN and
a two hour pilot BEASTMASTER 111, for Universal and recently top
series TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, DR QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN and THE
PRETENDER. Gabrielle then wrote and directed a TV movie based on
Princess Diana's last year, DIANA, A TRIBUTE TO THE PEOPLE'S
PRINCESS which was shot in Mallorca Spain. She recently adapted,
her cousin, Daphne du Maurier's book, THE KING'S GENERAL as a
miniseries. Currently she is writing another screenplay for the
producer's of the Diana picture and has just completed a screenplay
of her own THREE DAYS IN THE HILLS.

She has spent the last three years living in Spain, shooting
commercials and writing. She has a screenplay in development with
a Spanish company, ONE DAY AT A TIME BUT NO TOMORROW“ UN DIA A LA
VEZ, PERO NINGUN MANANA a thriller set in Spain to be shot in
Mallorca and has received an advance on her biographical novel
SWORDS AND BUTTERFLIES. Gabrielle has Spanish residency and a
British (European) passport. She can work anywhere in the European
    Community.

Gabrielle was married to Actor writer Olaf Pooley and subsequently
to cinematographer Michael Davis who unfortunately passed away in
    2008.
